With the development of the insulation material industry, Hairui rock wool occupies an increasingly important position due to its unique characteristics, and is widely used in building exterior wall insulation and fire protection systems. However, there are often customers who have doubts and misunderstandings about the application of rock wool, so Sakura Rock wool has been accumulated in the industry for 30 years and provided some answers based on some common questions of customers, for your reference only:

Question 1: What are the advantages of rock wool in building insulation and fire protection? What problems should be paid attention to when doing exterior wall insulation and fire protection?

Answer: Rock wool itself is made of inorganic material, non-combustible, and belongs to Class A fireproof material. It also has thermal insulation performance. When using rock wool fireproof products, it not only guarantees the thermal insulation effect, but also the fireproof performance meets the fire protection standard.

To do a good job in the fire protection of external wall insulation, the following points need to be done: One is to strictly implement various fire protection regulations and strictly implement the fire protection system. Choose good insulation materials, take fire protection measures for the initial stage of the use of insulation materials, and monitor the construction process at the intermediate stage of the use of insulation materials to prevent the possibility of various fires; after the insulation materials are made into an external wall insulation system, do Use the insulation system correctly and prevent fires.

Question 2: The higher the density, the better the quality of rock wool?

Answer: The application range of rock wool products is very broad. Different fields of application have different technical performance requirements, and the correlation between the quality of rock wool materials and material density is also different. For example, in the non-transparent curtain wall project, the installation operation needs to squeeze the rock wool and the keel tightly, and the high-density rock wool has a hard texture and cannot be squeezed and compacted at the edges, leaving a large number of gaps. It is considered that the cold (hot) bridge should be increased. It is not conducive to controlling the quality of the project.

Question 3: How should we deal with the fall of the external wall insulation?

Answer: The exterior wall insulation system of a building is a composite structural layer. The shedding phenomenon usually occurs at the junction of different structural layers. The common shedding phenomenon occurs when the insulation board falls off and the surface layer falls off. The main reasons for the exterior wall insulation system fall off are :1. The quality of the adhesive is too poor, the way of cloth glue is not correct, and the improper construction leads to false sticking of the insulation board. 2. The quality of the insulation layer material is too poor, and the adhesion is too poor, such as XPS board, PU. The strength of the material is too low, so it is necessary to choose a material that meets the national standards or industry standards in terms of the tensile adhesive strength of the material. 3. The strength of the base wall is too low or there is floating dust or oil stain on the surface, resulting in weak bonding. 4. The anchor bolts are not designed or the number of anchor bolts is not enough, and the anchor bolt anchorage depth is not enough. 5. Extreme construction environment and irregular construction.

In general, in order to reduce the shedding of the insulation layer, it is mainly to do a good job in the selection and control of the insulation system material, the wall insulation system design is reasonable, and the most important thing is to strengthen the construction control.

Question 4: What is the difference between rock wool and slag wool?

Answer: Rock wool and slag wool are different products. The main component of slag wool is slag, which has the characteristics of high content of slag balls, low melting point and low acidity coefficient. Therefore, the thermal conductivity of slag wool is high, and it will have serious heat shrinkage when exposed to fire.

Slag wool generally cannot be used in projects that require fire protection. Moreover, slag wool cannot meet the application of external wall thermal insulation composite system, so it should not be used in external wall thermal insulation composite system.

Question 5: Does rock wool cause harm to human health?

Answer: Of course not. The World Health Organization has conducted a large number of studies on whether rock wool fiber is carcinogenic, and the results clearly show that rock wool fiber is not a carcinogen. The results of the study are: "Insulation glass wool, continuous glass wool, rock wool and slag wool are not classified as human carcinogens (Class 3)". Research on the carcinogenicity of rock wool is well known, and these research reports are public. In addition, here we must distinguish the difference between rock wool and asbestos, asbestos is classified as a carcinogen by the World Health Organization.

It is worth mentioning that the flame retardant HBCDD used to make certain foam products reach B1 level is a kind of PBT substance (persistence, bioaccumulation, toxic substance), and the European Union Chemical Agency decided to list HBCDD earlier. Import substances that require special attention (SVHC). From production to installation and dismantling, mineral wool (including rock wool) can be excluded as hazardous substances.

Question 6: Does the rock wool production process consume a lot of energy and produce a lot of emissions?

Answer: All or most of the production waste in modern factories is recyclable. After a small amount of waste is processed, emissions will be reduced to a minimum. A unit of rock wool saves a hundred times the energy consumption in its use in its production. Manufacturing 1 kg of rock wool consumes about 20MJ of energy, while manufacturing 1 kg of polystyrene board consumes at least 85MJ. The raw materials for the manufacture of polystyrene boards are basically fossil fuels such as petroleum and natural gas, while the manufacture of rock wool only needs to use very ordinary rock (basalt), and its available reserves are almost unlimited.
